Poca Valley is cutting the ribbon for its newest location at the corner of Quarrier and Clendenin streets on Thursday, June 11.

“We are honored to come to downtown Charleston,” said Linda Ashley, Poca Valley’s president. “Our theme for this location is to showcase West Virginia’s natural resources – mountains, timber, rocky-rolling rivers and towering steel framework emulating an oil and gas derrick. We wanted a unique building for downtown Charleston to complement the city’s recent architectural updates. It fits well in this evolving landscape along the river. We hope you love it as much as we do.”

The two-story branch opened in May and is the bank’s ninth location. It features a sleek design that matches Poca Valley’s new brand, which was unveiled last year. The conference room tables and the building’s stairs were crafted locally from maple and cherry hardwoods. The facility is energy-efficient with natural light filling many of its corridors and work areas.

The facility features an events room that can seat as many as 70 people. In the future, groups and organizations in the area will be welcome to book the space.

“It’s about being a piece of Charleston,” said Kevin Jennings, Poca Valley’s vice president of human resources and marketing. “We can’t wait to be a part of community, just like we’ve become a part of so many other communities throughout the region.

“This is a new chapter for Poca Valley, and this new look matches our vision,” Ashley explained. “This is a modern take on more than 100 years of community banking at its finest, and we’re thrilled to be in the heart of the Kanawha Valley.”

Founded in Walton in 1908, The Poca Valley Bank Inc. – known today as Poca Valley – opened its first branch in Kanawha County 1987.

“Poca Valley’s place in the community goes beyond banking,” Ashley said. “We’ll still be one of the best when it comes to traditional banking products, but we want you to know we also bring excellence in financial planning, wealth management, bookkeeping services, and more. Relationships are everything at Poca Valley.”
